The position of the hotel is unbeatable, within walking distance from all the major attractions and, strategically, right next to one of the main bus hubs so that you can arrive from the airport by public bus and reach Ada Ciganlija and Zemun in ten minutes (!). I was traveling with my senior mother and I managed to show her much more of this wonderful city than I had ever dreamed of, with daily mid-day rests that would have not been possible otherwise. The hotel is very very quiet and the beds are very comfortable. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, but this is to be expected in Serbia, where humanity, not algorithms, is still in charge. The hotel is owned by the Government and is part of the local hotel school, with the students practicing there, this is nice to know, since by staying you're supporting the future of Serbian tourism. Breakfast was excellent and beyond exceptional value for money, a fantastic starting point for a great day out. Finally, there is a supermarket right next to the entrance on the beautiful square, along with a number of great eateries within a 3 minute walking radius. Overall, he value for money of the hotel is absolutely great and, if you're not looking for luxury or exotic services, it's very hard to beat in central Belgrade.

In June 2000 I set myself the ambition to visit every country in the world of which there are 225 and my visit to Serbia was my 159th country, consequently staying in a wide range of hotels. Before I start I must point out certain facts. The hotel, is in the city centre, is far cheaper than the others nearby and was built 124 years ago. If there are any issues with the room and reported they are resolved quickly. The ambience of the hotel is its character. For the past 70 years it has been tied to a catering college for 15 to 19 year old kids, training around 1400 a year. They attend college 4 days and get practical experience at the hotel on the 5th. To stay at this hotel you MUST BE TOLERANT and have a desire to assist the younger generation get educated. At reception or in the restaurant there are around 10 students in each every day trying their best. The prompt and friendly service received, outweighs any issues. The kitchen has around 30 students every day learning. The quality of food is exceptional. If you are intolerant or self-centred this is not the hotel for you and you should stay in a ‘chain hotel’ paying the appropriate rate. I viewed my stay as my contribution to ‘doing good’, whilst also saving money. In summary I was very happy with my stay.

The Hotel is super centrally located, to one side the famous Belgrade Fortress with amazing views of the Danube, to the other side main boulevards and Republic Square, all walkable. My flight arrived early morning and I asked to leave my luggage to start sightseeing, however they gave the room at that time, the manager was around and personally came to say Hello, girl at the front desk super attentive as well. For departure as my flight was early they arranged a taxi for me at a fixed price as I had a bad experience coming from the airport when the driver charged me more than agreed in the voucher….

The location is good and the room and the bathroom is spacious and is clean and well maintained and there was housekeeping on a daily basis during our one week stay at this hotel. We had opted for bed with breakfast and the breakfast choice of items was good and with plenty of vegetable and fruit salads. Though there was more non-veg food items on the menu list, still we could manage to our stomach fill with fruits, vegetable salads and coffee .

The location is amazing - we were able to walk everywhere in the central area and our car was safely parked underneath the hotel (there is a separate charge for this but worth it as the roads are narrow and traffic is pretty bad so at least this way the car is looked after). The room was clean and breakfast was excellent. Reception staff also very helpful but the waitresses could not speak English, so that was a a bit of an issue when ordering.
